Cream Cheese Filling
Add any of your favourite flavours to this filling. Crushed pineapple, mini marshmallows, maraschino cherries and coconut make a lovely ambrosia tart. Swirl with chocolate filling for a quick marble mud pie, or layer it up with lemon filling for fabulous parfaits.
The choice is yours. This filling is suitable for a number of different crusts ranging from chocolate pastry to pecan or graham crust. Have fun!
- 1/2 cup of icing sugar
- 1 250 ml brick of cream cheese at room temperature
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup whipping cream measured, then whipped
- Mix sugar, cheese and vanilla in a mixing bowl.
- Blend until light and creamy.
- Whip whipping cream separately and fold into cream cheese mixture.
- Fold in your choice of berries, pudding flavours, nuts, etc.
Savouries can be made as well by creaming your cream cheese with 1/4 cup of milk. Make additions such as olives, nuts, celery, chives, and tangy spices.
Store filling in a piping bag.
